Wildfires Post

The summer of 2020 was one of the most intense wildfire seasons for the United States Pacific Northwest region, along with the state of Montana. I chose to do a story for social media about what climate change has to do with the increase of wildfires.

Here’s a few ways that climate change has directly changed the behavior of wildfires. #wildfildfires #wildfires2020  #montanafires #oregonfires #washingtonfires #californiafires  #climatechange #climateandfires

Climate Change Studies Minor – Program Details

Closer to the time that registration for Spring 2021 opened, my internship advisors asked me to put together some graphics with details about the program.

Caption: The Climate Change Studies minor at the University of Montana is a 21-credit interdisciplinary minor. The requirements for the minor include taking the introductory course (Intro to Climate Change: Science and Society for 3 credits), as well as 6 credits of Climate Science courses, 6 credits of Climate in Society courses, and 6 credits of Climate Solutions. UM’s Climate Change Studies minor is the nation’s first undergraduate, interdisciplinary degree program in climate change. The CCS minor is open to all majors. Contact Peter McDonough, program coordinator (peter.mcdonough@umontana.edu) for more information or with any questions you may have!

I also made an Instagram Story post to go with this main post asking for feedback from the followers of the page in response to the wildfires post. I attached the Instagram Story posts to the Highlights feature in the instagram profile for the program.

The orange square was a designed space that I put the “Question box” function overtop of in the Instagram app.

Caption: It’s almost time for registration! Here are the available courses for Spring 2021 that fulfill requirements for the Climate Change Studies minor. Remember you need 6 credits in Science, Society and Solutions. Contact Peter if you have further questions at peter.mcdonough@mso.umt.edu

I also made accompanying Instagram Story posts to go alongside these two main feed posts. I attached the Instagram Story posts to the Highlights feature in the Instagram profile for the program.

Reducing Waste During a Pandemic Story Promotion

A student in the climate change studies program wrote an article for the University of Montana’s student newspaper on sustainability during a pandemic. I made a few graphics for social media to promote the article she wrote.
