Broadcasting

Part of my job as an Editor in Chief for the broadcast team is making sure that we promote the games that we are covering. Quoting tweets from the team brings traffic to the broadcast twitter and raises awareness of the game’s coverage.

During the game, I’ve encouraged additional twitter coverage in order to expand our audience to more than just stream viewers.

Offering video downloads on multiple platforms allows for an even greater audience to be reached. Cutting highlights of the games that are broadcasted is another great way to increase the viewership and increase traffic to the team’s page.

Yearbook

I have been a part of an initiative to put more photo stories on WLHSnow through using the extra yearbook photos that didn’t make it onto the modules in the book. I’m working with the photo editor for WLHSnow’s Amplifier staff to increase the yearbook’s web presence.

I started by putting some of the photos I took for a choir concert over Christmas break onto the website. Only one of the photos I took was used for a module so I put the remaining photos online.

Using social media to push content is another way that I’ve tried to increase Yearbook’s web presence. A lot of hard work goes into the class all year and I think it’s important to allow for the student body and the community to see the work that we are doing in order to drive interest to buy a yearbook and to give the buyers’ something to look forward to.
